: [05/06/13]The IGB is administered under the auspices of a world scientific committee and supported by the IGU (International Geographical Union).
Geographical
The IGB was created in 1891 by geographers and for geographers.
It offers analyses of articles of the main geographical world journals (300), books, congresses, theses, maps and atlases with a classification by sections (theoretical, thematic and regional).
It covers much of the geographic
world field including a specialized network of correspondents in
some topics or countries.
Bibliography
The IGB is a database containing some
178, 000 bibliographical entries.
It was added to the FRANCIS databases system of the CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research) in 1976 and is maintained by the INIST.
It was produced by the UMR PRODIG with some 3 800 new records added each year.
