International

The IGB is administered under the auspices of a world scientific committee and supported by the IGU (International Geographical Union).

It provides information on the most recent geographical publications across the world with abstracts in French or English. It offers a keyword-search system (by subject matter or place) in French, English or Spanish.

Geographical

The IGB was created in 1891 by geographers and for geographers.

It offers analyses of articles of the main geographical world journals (300), books, congresses, theses, maps and atlases with a classification by sections (theoretical, thematic and regional).

It covers much of the geographic world field including a specialized network of correspondents in some topics or countries.

Bibliography

The IGB is a database containing some 178, 000 bibliographical entries.

It was added to the FRANCIS databases system of the CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research) in 1976 and is maintained by the INIST.

It was produced by the UMR PRODIG with some 3 800 new records added each year.
