Abstract

This paper investigates the relationship between the relative age of Coastal Plain surfaces, as indicated by the degree of soil profile development and wetness characteristics. The goal is to determine the extent to which wetlands can be considered to be either 1) discrete features, with the surrounding landscaping providing a context, controls, or exogenous influences over wetland development| or 2) landform components which cannot be isolated from the development of the surrounding landscape
