Abstract

Several external forces, acting on the structure of soils, including raindrop impact, are briefly discussed. Two external forces are discussed in detail. The first one is a temporary external loading force, caused by the weight of tractors. The second one is the force of a penetrating object and its reaction to soil structure. This discussion is focussed on a very fine object, which may imitate a growing root
