Abstract

Farm layouts and building styles of the metis agriculturalists in Central Saskatchewan prior to 1870 manifested technology imported from francophone communities along the St. Lawrence River. The AA. contend that the metis house and farmstead symbolically reproduce metis culture, reflecting openess, informality, lack of rigidly defined structure and having continuity with the landscape. - (DWG)
