Abstract

During the Quaternary, Mt Xixabangma has been progressively uplifted and denuded by rivers and glaciers, and by the effects of periglacial conditions. The balance between these agents differs greatly on different aspects of the massif, as do the resulting landscapes. This complicates the interpretation of Quaternary tectonic and climatic history. The A. tries to clarify the succession of the glaciations and presents a critical summary and review of the Chinese work
