Abstract

The results of this study support climatic control of pH buffering, and further suggest that differences in the climatic controls on pH buffering account for the difference in the pHA and pHB models. Moreover, soil parent material and soil age may also influence pH buffering, particularly clay mineralogy, but are not accounted for in these models. Future models should include nonclimatic controls on acidity
