Abstract

Interpretation of soil erosion from standard SPOT stereo images (XS and P) is compared with air-photo interpretation and computer based classification and tailoring of SPOT images for erosion mapping. The relations to the Southern African classification system (SARCCUS) are discussed and the results are tested by the use of the 137Cs of the top-soil indicating the degree of Land degradation
