Abstract

This study concerns the isolated timberline woodlands, which are only found on valley sides on 25-35o slopes. Almost all stems were basally curved. Microscopy examination demonstrated that underground curvature was due to stem burial. The AA. suggest that it was litter creep and branch movements along the slope that caused this burial
