Abstract

The stratigraphical record and the morphological correlation to the Nahe terraces show that the latest glacis development took place during the Würm glacial and another during the Riss glacial. By analogy it was concluded that the older, higher glacis remnants were formed during the earlier Pleistocene glacials. The western margin of the Rhine Hessian, Plateau provides, therefore, evidence that glacis and, in a wider sense, pediments did form during the Pleistocene glacials
