Abstract

The A. regards the Middle Ages as the period during which Buddhism won general popularity and had great influence on every aspect of society and culture. Japanese's view of their country was mainly a byproduct of the widespread influence of Buddhism. The maps and the world view of European put an end to the mediaeval perception of Japan. - (SGA)
