Abstract

The equilibrium line altitude in the most critical parameter in the link between glaciers and climate. Following discussion of methods of reconstructing former glaciers and calculating their equilibrium line altitudes, the application of the climatic relationships to the Loch Lomond Readvance glaciers of Highland Britain is considered and an outline of the precipitation pattern and the mean summer temperature of the Loch Lomond stadial is given.
