Abstract

Karst phenomena give rise to rock voids, which may be filled with low density materials and which are often surrounded with a deconsolidated zone. Microgravimetric surveys, based on measurement of the gravitational field, take the effect of the deconsolidated zone, as well as that of the actual voids, into account. The maximum amplitude of the anomaly is more a direct function of the location and shape of the actual rock void. Several survey examples are given, illustrating these phenomena. (from the AA.).
