Abstract

In the two areas of Lobito-Benguela and Mossamedes, deposits of distinct Holocene, mid-Wurmian, Eemian and Mindel-Riss interglacial shorelines were radiometrically dated using 14C and 230 Th/234 U and 231 Pa/231 U ratios| the Holocene appears to be a period of markedly increased epeirogenic activity. The uplift, more intense in the Lobito-Benguela area, appears to be associated with epicentres, parallel to the axis of the Walvis ridge.
