Abstract

Although theoretical reflection on the notion of space in geographical science has increased in the past fifteen years, a number of gaps still exist. Therefore the following questions were asked in this study: What were the characteristics and functions of the notions "space" and "time" as well as related concepts? What has been the influence of societal and scientific developments? The analyses have been made for a number of approaches in traditional geography besides the contemporary range of geographical approaches. (AGD).
