Abstract

The piedmonts and intramountain basins in North-Maysand West-Sligo were filled in the Late Pleistocene by the eastern ice of the Midlandian Glaciation. Varied types of terraces are related with the erosive and depositional meltwater processes of the recessive ice-sheet: 1) frequent terraces in the pleniglacial till cover by vertical cutting of the meltwater channels| 2) frequent stepped juxtaglacial-lake terraces by glacial obturations| 3) very few proglacial outwash terraces. The fresh shape of these features is emphasized.
