Abstract

European intervention in Africa resulted in the conquest of virtually the entire continent. As a result various groups of colonialists tried to impose a particular imprint upon the landscape. The colonial powers each had their own style which is most evident in the architectural heritage bequeathed to independent Africa. However, groups such as soldier, administrators, traders, hunters, gatherers, planters, miners and settlers all contribued to the transformation of the landscape. (AJC).
