Abstract

The Souris River in southern Manitoba is well known as a river which shows a very sharp elbow in its course between the source south-east of Regina (Saskatchewan) and the mouth near Treesbank in Manitoba. There have been only three publications so far on this very interesting feature which occurred about 12500years b.p. (Oldest Dryas in Europe). This diversion marks the beginning of the retreat of the ice masses following one of the last cold periods during the final stages of the Pleistocene. (The A.).
