Abstract

Outdoor recreation in The Netherlands has become a major problem. In this context, given that the nature of a proposed project is known, three major groups of problems can be distinguished. Determination of the right location is based both on recreation patterns as well as on the properties of the landscape. Calculation of the planning capacity is done using the above-mentioned models, or the system described in part II of this paper (Van Lier, 1980). The layout of the new project is based on the behaviour and preferences of the visitors and on technical possibilities. (AGD).
