Abstract

The largest part of the population of Kuwait consists of aliens. This is a result of the difficulties involved in acquiring Kuwaiti nationality and of the recent volume of migration. The age and sex structures of the alien populations have been greatly affected by these migrations. The contrast between the population of aliens of different nationality is great| each apparently specializing in a particular type of activity and having a characteristic population structure of its own. In general, Iranians and Pakistanis are employed as labourers and do not bring their families with them. In contrast, the Palestinians are employed in the more specialized occupations and tend to live with their relatives who migrate with them.
