Abstract

The main problems facing the livestock sector in Saudia Arabia and other Middle Eastern states are structural in nature, where the whole framework of the sector needs reconstruction and reorganization. The development of livestock requires a systems approach so that a "holistic" view can be taken of the envisaged development. The livestock sector is not a one-dimensional phenomenon, but is in essence an eco-system composed of many elements, i.e. animals, ranges, environmental and human factors. Success depends on how well the development of each element in each region can be harmonized with others within the eco-system. (l'A.).
