Wechselbeziehungen zwischen tektonischen Vorgängen der ozeanischen und der kontinentalen Kruste. (Interactions entre les processus tectoniques de la croûte océanique et continentale)

The oceanic rifts perform minor rotations that are only processes of stabilization and major ones connected with a reorientation of major structures. In the circum-Pacific zone these above major rotations all coincide chronologically with salient events of continental geology. On a small scale, the tectonic mobilities, intrusions, phases, etc., in oceans and in continents do not often show a global accord. A global coincidence becomes, however, obvious when paying attention to large-area relationships, in the transgression and regression behaviour, too which simultaneously suggests that even sedimentary events are primarily governed by endogenous tectonics, or are at least influenced by it. From a global point of view, there are signs of a rhytmical activity of oceanic rifts of 6 and 12 million years, respectively, to which, for example, could correspond a rhythm of 6 and 12 million years respectively, of the alpidic tectogenesis. In case the mass shift within the lithosphere should be a global process, then processes taking place within the cratons should also have global causes.
