Abstract

A large polar flow affected Western Europe on February 3rd, 4th and 5th 1963. It started an important cyclogenesis on the Mediterranea Sea. These disturbances took then a South-North trajectory thus following the eastern side of the planetary valley. This very common process is analysed in all the details. This example shows that the disturbances affecting the Baltic do not come all from the Arctic front since in its likeness 30% of the Mediterranean cyclones re-ascend northward.
