Abstract

Among many analysis the cuttings of two bore-holes (1970) on the submerged Plateau de Salonique allowed the main following conclusions: The "Birth" of Olymp must be placed between the late Pliocene and the early Quaternary. There were many tectonic moves all along the Quaternay: a major phase is located at the boundary of lower and Middle Quaternary. It produced important paleogeographic changes, such as the Aegean transgression ("Milazzian/Holstenian). The rates of sedimentation subsidence (for the submerged plateau) or elevation (for Olymp) lead to the impression that the Late Quaternary does not correspond, however to a serious change in the morphologic or tectonic evolution velocity.
