Abstract

Two main kinds of thermal damp-out layers (TDL), occuring in Poland, have been investigated, namely: 1) the lower ones which begin directly above ground (irrespective of their depth)| 2) those elevated ones which are not higher than 1000m above ground. Basing on radio soundings made at 11 and 23GMT, occurrence 1958-1967 of lower TDL (of radiation, radiation-advection, radiation-subsidence, advection and advection-subsidence type) has been examined as well as that of elevated TDL. For each kind of TDL frequency, depth, total vertical air temperature increase and vertical temperature gradient were established, their properties being compared for both observation times. (L'A.).
