Seasonal variation of the grain-size composition of the fluvial sediments in various sections of the Prosna channel

Authors(s) and Affiliation(s)

The problem, whether grain size statistical parameters of sediments and their scatter plots are useful for the environmental analysis of sediments, has been of particular interest for years. The opinions as to their usefulness are extremely different: from their recommendation to complete negation. This article contains analyses of the fluvial environment sediments collected at the same points but in different periods of time. Results of the investigations show that variation of sediments collected from the same points of the channel may be very large, and relations among their different parameters may indicate both a high degree of connection and its lack, depending on water flow conditions in the river channel.
