Abstract

The objectives of this research are to : quantify the amount of winter dessication that occurred at treeline sites in Glacier National Park, Montana, during the winter of 1998/1999; determine if the variability in winter dessication between locations can be explained by any macroscale site characteristics (e.g. elevation, patch size, slope, aspect, or topographic setting); determine if there are patterns of injury within sampled krummholz patches; and form preliminary hypotheses about what climatic factors may be responsible for inter-annual winter dessication variability
