Abstract

Wal-Mart is the world's largest retailer. Its purchase of ASDA in 1999 illustrates the global scale of such modern retailing. The A. considers the implications of Wal-Mart's takeover of ASDA. The key drivers of that business success are analysed. Its impact in Canada and Germany is examined. These considerations are placed in the context of theoretical discussions of retailing and the internationalisation of retailing
