Abstract

Land-use change in urbanizing areas can significantly alter the hydrology of a watershed and can have serious impacts on wetland water balances, downstream flooding, and groundwater recharge. In this paper, the AA. outline the structure of implementing the Long-Term Hydrologic Impact Assessment (LTHIA) model in a GIS, evaluate the sensitivity of model results to input data resolution and precipitation record length, and demonstrate application of the model to a watershed undergoing land-use change, near Indianapolis, Indiana
