Abstract

The postglacial vegetation history of Anticosti Island in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, Québec, was reconstructed from pollen analysis of 3 sites, providing the first paleoecological data for the island. The vegetation history of the island appeared to be different from that of neighboring maritime regions. Warmer and wetter conditions characterized the mid-Holocene period, whereas a cooling trend and an increase in moisture availability occurred during the last thousand years
