Abstract

The hydrological and geomorphological dynamics of the lower Rhone river are studied during the Roman period. The crossing of archaeological and radiocarbon dating methods allow to study events at a pluridecadal to centennial scale. Therefore the AA. analyse the palaeohydrological functioning of the lower Rhone valley between the 2nd century BC and the 2nd century AD as well as discuss its palaeoclimatic significance in relation to the upper and middle river valley
