Extreme anomalies of winter air temperature in mid-latitude Europe

published at : Papers in Global Change IGBP, No. 8

The aim of this paper is to analyze the interannual variability which characterizes the late-winter surface air temperature in mid-latitude Europe, 45-60°N, and discuss its causes. The AA. analyze the interannual variability at its extreme by comparing the warm-winter/early-spring of 1989/90 with the opposite scenario in 1995/96. They examine the influence of maritime-air advection in raising the winter air temperature in Europe
