Revisiting regional geography : a view from Oregon

Authors(s) and Affiliation(s)

MURPHY A.B. ;

Abstract

Murphy believes that regional geography always will exist because it mediates local practices and large-scale or even global processes. Although few geographers may now call themselves regionalists, many regional geography courses at the U. of Oregon are offered and often form part of core curricula for area studies programs. He recommends that a single theoretical underpinning for regional geography is elusive and that, rather, regional geography, should inform theory. - (SLD)
