Abstract

Wishing to place indigenous soil and water conservation (ISWC) in the context of land management, the AA. explore the interactions between ISWC, cropping, and crop protection practices. They conducted a field study in the Mbeere District, located in the semi-arid footslopes of mount Kenya, and found many indigenous crop protection practices that can be combined with ISWC. They also found that there were constraints associated with the techniques that needed to be addressed to improve land management. There is a discussion of crop pests and diseases. - (SLD)
