The majority of models used in the outdoor leisure planning practice today lack the sophistication required to gain insight into individual tourist trip patterns. This thesis therefore aimed to develop and test a microsimulation model taking into account many facets of outdoor leisure trips and mutual dependencies among these facets and among subsequent leisure trips. Microsimulation offers the opportunity to build more comprehensive models of leisure choices by combining behavioural hypotheses and relationships with regard to the facets that comprise the decisions. - (AGD)
