Abstract

Two geochemical techniques from soil mineralogy were used with lake sediment to reconstruct soil development in the catchments of 2 small lakes, one on outwash and the other on till, in the Great Lakes region. The results help to describe accumulation of soil weathering products in each lake, to infer the timing of stages of soil development and the flux of material between catchment and lake, and to relate the timing of soil development to catchment geology and to paleoclimate
