Abstract

Historical perspectives of mortality changes and current patterns by cause in regions. During the interwar period, mean length of life increased and was close to the levels observed in France. From the mid -1960s to the mid-1980s the deterioration of the survival rate is visible. The recent favourable development has brought the Republic a little closer to the European average. Diverse cause of death profiles were found in different regions. - (MS)
