Abstract

The geomorphologic study of the Gibraltar Strait, as well as budget modelling and hydraulic calculations, all point out to the retrogressive erosion by an eastwards-flowing Messinian stream as a necessary natural agent in order to account for the opening of the Plio-Quaternary Strait of Gibraltar. The strait of Gibraltar results from the work of a stream, which managed water-piracy from an Ocean
