Abstract

Lake Johnston cirque contains some of the best subalpine rainforest in Tasmania. The vegetation composition was studied to determine locally sourced pollen inputs and to interpret the pollen diagram. Magnetic measurements of mineral properties and remanence have proven successful for correlating lake cores as proxy for paleoenvironment and paleoclimate, and for reconstructing geomagnetic secular variations
