Recent research on landslide dams - a literature review with special attention to New Zealand

Authors(s) and Affiliation(s)

This review aims to elucidate the results and identify shortcomings of contemporary work on landslide dams, as well as to highlight possible directions for future research. It will focus on recent (i.e., mainly the last decade's) findings on geomorphic and hydrologic aspects of the formation, failure and geomorphic impact of landslide dams, rather than comprehensively list important case examples. Special attention is given to the current developments in landslide-dam research in New Zealand, before discussing contemporary approaches and suggesting some possible future research directions
