Weathering-limited rainfall-triggered shallow mass movements in undisturbed steepland tropical rainforest

Authors(s) and Affiliation(s)

Geomorphological investigations in the rainforest-covered steeplands of southeast Brunei, near the northwest coast of Borneo, have found evidence that shallow landslides play a key role in the maintenance of characteristic slope forms and probably also make important contributions to the ecological dynamics of the tropical rainforest system. A deterministic modelling framework based on the infinite slope model and a simple hillslope hydrology model based on water storage and the continuity equation were used. Results and discussion
