Abstract

This article begins with an introduction to InSAR fundamentals, including imaging geometry, data processing, precision limits, and a comparison with photogrammetry, total station, global positioning systems (GPS), and airborne laser altimeter technologies. It then reviews 7 emerging InSAR applications in geomorphology and hydrology : slope motion; land subsidence; sediment erosion/deposition; soil moisture; river inundation; snow cover; river ice, including an original demonstration of the ability of InSAR to detect river-ice deformation
