Abstract

This paper presents an overview and review of trends in South African urban geography. The paper reveals that until recently, the Eurocentric dominance was very evident in urban geography. The various stages from the apartheid era to the present democratic era are examined and impact of the significant exodus of academics from academic geography to become policy makers and consultants is assessed. - (AJC)
