Abstract

The timberline region is a visually attractive and ecologically important ecotone. This article considers the factors determining the location and nature of the timberline, especially in northern Finland. The timberline and tree line in northern Finland are usually formed by the mountain birch (Betula pubescens ssp. tortuosa)
