Abstract

This paper examines the response of dry-region alluvial fans to base-level change. After a brief discussion of tectonically induced base-level change, this paper deals with climatically induced base-level change, and how its effect interact with those of climatic change itself. This is illustrated by 2 contrasted case studies : the coastal Cabo de Gata fans in southeast Spain and the Stillwater and Cold Springs fans in Nevada, USA
