Abstract

The A. examines the claim of the decreased relevance of existing structures of multipurpose territorial government. He points to configurations of governance that usually lead to situations of diffused accountability and limit the field of democratic accountability. A change in the existing structures through which territorial self-government and administration are organized is not necessary in order to cope with the pressures and uncertainties of globalization
