Abstract

Conservation of agricultural biodiversity has become an important part of the effort to promote sustainable development worldwide. This paper reviews the Cajamarca model and the HimalAndes Project. The former promotes seed fairs and the creation of local seed banks managed by campesino associations. The latter promotes technical cooperation in support of the exchange of seeds and local knowledge mountain agriculture ecosystems. Tables list native Andean crops. - (SLD)
