Abstract

The detailed lithostratigraphic, biostratigraphic, chemical and physical analyses of lake sediments and alluvial fan sediments done in the Aksaray area, southeast of the basin of Lake Tuz are reported to reconstruct the changes of sedimentary environments during the Late Quaternary. The A. focuses on the geographic contrast between Konya Basin, where the lake had disappeared at about 10,000 years ago, and Lake Tuz, where a large water area has been kept till now, by comparing environmental histories of both areas. Data of sedimentary ages and environment of Late Quaternary deposits made clear the lake-level fluctuations and fan developing systems
