Abstract

The aim of this paper is to propose a general model for predicting sand supply to coastal dunes that incorporates sediment transport processes on the beach and to demonstrate its utility in providing insight into the variable nature of foredune systems. The AA. erect a framework into which can be incorporated any of various existing models of equilibrium transport rate coupled with a simple parameterization of the fetch effect, and to accept these as reasonable surrogates for the complex micro-scale sedimentary processes that actually occur on a beach
