Abstract

In this paper author makes an attempt to define the terms : floodplain farming and fok agriculture (i. e. farming confined to scour channels) using some historical geographical information and previous studies. Floodplain agriculture and fok agriculture was widespread on the Great Hungarian Plain in medieval times. Major features of floodplain agriculture, and its potential impact on the environment are analysed. - (JS)
