Document title

A field perspective on modelling single ridge ice-wedge polygons

Abstract

This paper discusses differences between assumptions invoked by Plug and Werner (2002) and detailed, published, field observations made by numerous AA., primarily from Alaska, Canada, and Russia, over more than half a century. The specific criticisms focus on : the implications of trough evolution for cracking behaviour; the extent to which epigenetic, low-centred polygons represent the population of ice-wedge networks; and the modelled initiation of polygons in drained thaw lakes
